Distinguished Seminar Series 香港分部杰出学者講座 215 Prof. Peter Girguis Harvard University, USA 美国哈佛大学 Intro: In this distinguished seminar series, Prof. Girguis shared their latest development for the deep sea studies, including “In situmass spectroscopy, in situ isotope analyzer, microbial fuel cell observatories, in situ biogeochemical observatories, etc.” Besides, he discussed his “open design” idea, and emphasized on how the new technologies developed by individual could benefit to others. He also talked about his current research progress, such as the contribution of microbes on methane consumption, as well as the biological mechanism of tubeworms surviving in the deep sea methane environment. Prof. Girguis’s talk demonstrates how the broad collaborations from different fields contribute to the marine research.
