To Inspire. To Be Inspired. – 30 Stories on HKUST Faculty, Alumni and Students

59 Studying for a triple major is no easy feat, but Kevin still seeks to give back and volunteers by visiting the elderly. He also tutors underprivileged students, as he knows first-hand the struggles they face. Outside his classes, he promotes early STEM education by teaching primary school students programming basics, and he even won a Cyberport Creative Micro Fund for a budgeting app he developed, Sparrow. This commitment to social services, alongside his excellent academic performance, has been recognized by HKUST, which has awarded Kevin numerous scholarships. Coming from a humble background, having his tuition fees fully covered by scholarships is not something Kevin takes lightly, and he is grateful he can concentrate on his studies and explore his interests without the weight of financial pressure. Kevin continues to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way and remains dedicated to developing his YouVoice start-up and other solutions to help children with speech delays. Giving up has never been an option for Kevin, and at just 22 years old, he has gained wisdom that those much older rarely do — that without the winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.
