In 2020, after graduation, Kaiyang secured a job with digital visual integrated services provider Shenzhen Silkroad Digital Vision, which serves customers throughout the Mainland. The company seeks to bring together culture and technology, which is a great fit for Kaiyang: he is now able to apply his computer graphics skills to an array of different applications and projects. His foreign language ability, his 3D-landscape editing skills, his creation’s potential to improve the governance of the city, and his renewed love of his hometown have led to a career he would never have imagined. When asked what comes next, Kaiyang replies, “There is more than one road ahead.” Reflecting on how eye-opening studying at HKUST was for him, he is excited to visit the new HKUST (Guangzhou) campus and include it in his virtual city, as he continues to share his love of his vibrant and diverse hometown with the world.
