School of Engineering Department of Computer Science and Engineering 105 Data-Efficient, Domain Generalizable and Interpretable Deep Learning Supervisor: CHEN Hao / CSE Student: ZHU Zhengjie / COMP Course: UROP1000, Summer Due to certain constraints between ethics and the specificity of pathology slices, the datasets on digital pathology are not very large. Moreover, there are often only some tiny or local datasets instead of big public datasets like ImageNet. These images were taken in different ways, with different coloring techniques and resolutions, making applying deep learning to pathology more challenging. Our goal is to train a generalized pre-trained model for digital pathology. Then, others can apply it to downstream tasks using a small amount of data to fine-tune it to get good results. Also, self-supervised training has proven its effectiveness in recent years. It is also well adapted to the problem that most datasets are not labeled, so I researched many selfsupervised training models. Deep Video Super-resolution Supervisor: CHEN Qifeng / CSE Student: CHENG Yuhan / COSC Course: UROP1100, Fall Video compression is the process of encoding video information into numerical signal using fewer bits. Since videos could only be transmitted and stored by bits, so video compression is necessary to reduce the size of a video file. Video compression algorithm is widely used in all fields involving videos. A better algorithm means better quality, faster transmission rate and smaller size. All compression algorithms can be classified into two kinds, lossy and lossless. The video quality would be affected in lossy video compression algorithm. But no information is lost in lossless compression. An integrated video compression standard involves both lossy and lossless compression. There are many organizations which sets video compression standards. But two of them are the most influential. One is International Telecommunications Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T). Its subordinate department VECG has set many important video compression standards such as H.261, H.263 and H.264. The other one is International Standards Organization. MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 are set by its subordinate department MPEG.
