School of Engineering Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering 140 Design of Radio-frequency Integrated Circuits Supervisor: LUONG Howard Cam / ECE Student: LI Cunxu / ELEC Course: UROP1000, Summer In the DESIGN OF RADIO-FREQUENCY INTEGRATED CIRCUITS project, l followed the professor’s course to get a sense of what's involved. According to the knowledge I have acquired, l choose to mainly focus on the Inductors and Varactors. I understand how they are used in the real world and learn how to design them, how to solve the problem in designing them and their limitations and shortcomings. I got a further look at the circuit design. Because of my limited knowledge,I can't go further this summer. But with my further study in the following semester, I am willing to continue working on the part I currently can’t understand. Design of Radio-frequency Integrated Circuits Supervisor: LUONG Howard Cam / ECE Student: XING Hexiang / ELEC Course: UROP1100, Spring My urop project is the design of radio-frequency integrated circuit. The increasing demands of highly efficient communication push the operation band of the receiver to mm-wave frequency. Wideband LNA is the key block in the mm-wave receiver. Thus, I mainly focus on the design techniques of wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) design. In the first part, some RF basics for LNA design are summarized such as the noise figure, linearity and sensitivity. I give a detailed analysis of the basic topologies for wideband LNA in the second part. In the third part, several advanced LNA design techniques are introduced, such as noise-canceling, current reuse, gm-boosting, etc. Finally, in the fifth part, introduction of my wideband LNA design is given.
