UROP Proceedings 2021-22

School of Engineering Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering 144 Deep Learning for Magnetic Domain Image Denoising and Super-Resolution Supervisor: SHAO Qiming / ECE Student: PENG Yiyan / SENG Course: UROP1000, Summer This report introduces what I learned this summer semester and the Handwritten Digits Recognition algorithm. The new knowledge that I learned focuses on cost function, gradient descent, linear and logistic regression, and Regularization. The algorithm is the application of fundamental machine learning knowledge. The model’s dataset is provided by MNIST, and the network type is the fully connected neuron network. Some improvements like Regularization are also presented in the end. Embedded Systems for AI Hardware Supervisor: SHAO Qiming / ECE Student: LAU Wai Yin / ISD Course: UROP1000, Summer This report is targeted at a proposal to produce a main module for a high-speed switching controller that is suitable for AI algorithm. It have taken references from a published paper(https://aip.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1063/5.0058786), a FPGA board provided 1ns time resolution and maximum bandwidth up to 125Mhz, included 14 digital output channels and allowed data sequences for diverse commands. Therefore, this proposal is targeted to propose a similar device with literature reviews and potential electrical components selection mentioned. The whole design will be built according to the open-source code provided from the reference paper as a good starting point. Additional circuit will be considered to suit our user scenario. Embedded Systems for AI Hardware Supervisor: SHAO Qiming / ECE Student: SHI Yiqi / ELEC Course: UROP1100, Summer This is a study report which reflects what I have done in Summer 2022 UROP1100 program. My UROP topic is ‘Embedded Systems for AI Hardware’. My main job in this semester is reading and learning, which means this is neither a project report nor progress report. Instead, it is a study report. I have come over with four weeks of selfstudy and three weeks of thesis reading. In the following report, I will list them out one by one.
