Interdisciplinary Programs Office Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas 220 Human Faces Generation Using GAN Supervisor: HUI Pan / EMIA Student: TONG Tsun Man / SENG Course: UROP1100, Summer The project “Human Faces Generation using GAN” is conducted during the Summer Semester in 21-22 term under the supervision from Professor Hui PAN, and PhD student Steve Weipeng ZHUO. Several body generation projects were investigated and put into practice for generating a three-dimensional human object with only the frontal image, and attempts to implement with multiple images input, such as PIFu, HeadNeRF, Neural Head Avatars and Avatar SDK that make use of methods such as Deep Learning and Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). The project was very rewarding in terms of having a deeper understanding of Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. This report mainly focuses on these projects’ implementation, difficulties, their final results, their advantages and disadvantages. Human Faces Generation Using GAN Supervisor: HUI Pan / EMIA Student: ZHANG Chenyu / SENG Course: UROP1000, Summer In the UROP 1000 project, I worked on the project: Avatar Creation for the Meta Opening for HKUST Guangzhou Campus in September, with Professor HUI Pan as my supervisor. I mainly went through GitHub programs, including PIFu, RigMe, PIFuHD and Avatar SDK, that are used for the purpose of generating 3D model out of one front photo of a person. I modified the python environment, executed the programs, and finally compared the results generated from the programs. As a result, I found the Avatar SDK is the most satisfying, although there are still a few parts unsatisfying. I also helped Steve modify the website for receiving photos of presidents and mark the received photos.
