Interdisciplinary Programs Office Division of Environment and Sustainability 222 Interrogating Fintech-Enabled Solar Power as 'Energy Democracy' in Hong Kong Supervisor: DELINA Laurence Laurencio / ENVR Student: TANG Wing Shun / EVMT WONG Ka Ying / EVMT Course: UROP1100, Fall UROP2100, Fall In the Fall of 2021, this UROP continued to examine the statuses and potentials of a fintech-enabled renewable energy market and its relationship with energy democracy in Hong Kong. The students re validated the primary data they collected from key informant interviews and coding this qualitative data using MAXQDA. MAXQDA is a software package for qualitative methods. The outputs for this UROP included a coded dataset for analysis and publication in a journal. Japan-funded Energy Projects in Southeast Asia Supervisor: DELINA Laurence Laurencio / ENVR Student: WANG Zhiping / SSCI Course: UROP1000, Summer This UROP looked at Japan’s investments in Southeast Asia’s energy sector development. In Summer 2022, the student conducted a literature review. Some 149 articles were read and analyzed, suggesting the many complex reasons for Japan’s investments in the energy sector. Japan-funded Energy Projects in Southeast Asia Supervisor: DELINA Laurence Laurencio / ENVR Student: YEUNG Sen / SSCI Course: UROP1000, Summer Japan has a long-standing relationship with countries in Southeast Asia, financing and aiding them in building infrastructures. This UROP project assessed Japan’s energy investments in this world region from 2000 to 2020, paying closer attention to reviewing the literature. The review focused on how Japan invest in Southeast Asia's energy sector, and why it invests in this world region.
