Therefore, it is worthy to investigate the further impacts of China’s aid on its international status worldwide. The project examined the voting decisions of resolutions in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). At the current stage, the researcher conducted data analysis to explore China’s voting preferences in controversial resolutions, and summarized several determinants of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment, foreign aid, medical aid, and UNHRC voting decisions to find potential factors to be included in the project’s models. The tests results showed that significant differences existed in China’s voting decisions towards controversial resolutions and normal resolutions. Furthermore, eight dimensions of factors are potentially helpful in model construction, which are drafted as part of the literature review. This research project aims to understand the determinants of the distribution of Chinese medical assistance, especially how political alignment between China and the recipient countries affect the distribution. This progress reports highlights how we constructed the quantitative models, and how we collected data for different variables.
