HKSCC Working Group on Sustainability Education During the year 2021-22, Hong Kong Sustainable Campus Consortium (HKSCC) Working Group on Sustainability Education (composed of representatives from 8 local universities) continued its effort on developing a sustainability course inventory which analyzes the number of SE courses and student enrollment numbers. The course inventory initiative has been progressing over the years. Some members have leveraged the outcome of the activity to engage students and faculty and enhance the visibility of sustainability and SDG-related courses. For example, the members of the working group started to develop a method to utilize machine learning for analyzing SDG content in the course curriculum. The team is currently conducting pilot classification studies and moving forward, the team aims to improve the accuracy of the model so that it can assist member institutions in completing their university-wide course inventory more efficiently. Sustainability Education Vision The strategic vision for HKUST is to become a regional leader in sustainability education with a global outreach. As an on-going effort to achieve the Sustainable education goal of ensuring that all students gain a solid understanding of sustainability concepts and graduate with the capacity and commitment to solve problems locally and globally, The Sustainability Education Advisory Group (SEAG) has been conducting this analysis annually since 2018 to identify opportunities and gaps in the existing provision of sustainabilityrelevant courses, providing a basis for the development of sustainability education across Schools and programs.
