School of Engineering Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering 144 Tilt-rotor VTOL Aircraft Flight Control Supervisor: SHI, Ling / ECE Student: ZOU, Hetai / COMP Course: UROP1100, Spring While quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) has grown very much mature recently due to their maneuverability, it usually lacks efficiency, compared to fixed wing air crafts which obtain their lift from generated through wings. Vertical take-off and landing UAVs attempt to solve this problem by combining the maneuverability of multi-rotor UAVs as well as the efficiency of fixed wings uav. This project aims to explore, design, and manufacture a tailsitter-typed VTOL UAV, as well as investigate and design the kinematic control algorithm to enable autonomous flight. The current progress involves designing and validating the theoretical aerodynamical feasibility of the mechanical configuration, deploying and debugging the flight controller, and taking off manually. The progress also involves utilizing what we have learned in the first generation and starting to design the second generation, which aims for autonomous taking off, transition to horizontal flight configuration and landing. Human Activity Recognition Using mmWave Radar Supervisor: SHI, Ling / ECE Student: CHEN, Weiqi / COMP Course: UROP1100, Spring UROP1000, Summer Millimeter wave radar wireless sensing technology has the advantages of non-contact, long-distance, unaffected by light, high-precision resolution, and no violation of personal privacy, it has a wide range of applications. This project mainly focuses on the detection of human body status and the interaction between people and products based on human gestures and postures, and how to apply it to smart homes, smart hotels, and other fields. This report will specifically introduce the data collection method and action design, how to extract and classify data based on the improved single-branch convolutional neural network based on the VGG16 algorithm network, how to use the Python library Matplotlib to build a visualization platform for data and recognition results.
