This semester, we worked on improving the chatbot by seeking advice from different stakeholders, such as the Acting Dean of Students, Prof. King Chow, the Counseling and Wellness Centre, and the Information Technology Service Center (ITSC). With their inspiring advice, we modified the flowchart of the chatbot for better user-friendliness and added some additional features to enhance the user experience. At the same time, we started the deployment of the chatbot, especially for web deployment, to increase the accessibility of our chatbot by users, which is expected to be finished by the next semester. In the future, we plan to continue improving the chatbot and seek more feedback from different stakeholders, to increase public awareness of sexual harassment and provide help to harassment victims. AI for Social Innovation: Leveraging Chatbots to Combat Sexual Harassment Supervisor: SHARIF, Naubahar / PPOL Student: CHAN, Wan Ting / ECOF LEUNG, Tsz Ching / CPEG NG, Lok Lam / ELEC ZHU, Qiyun / GCS-IHSS Course: UROP4100, Spring UROP4100, Spring UROP4100, Spring UROP2100, Spring Despite facing a rejection of their project proposal by the university's Diversity and Equal Opportunities Committee (DEOC), we are able to introduce their project idea to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) thanks to the assistance of Professor Stuart. In our project introduction to UNFPA, we explained our inspiration for the project, which came from the prevalence of sexual harassment cases reported during university orientation camps in Hong Kong. We shared their goal of creating a chatbot to offer support to victims of sexual harassment while creating public awareness around gender equality issues and sexual offending. We outlined the challenges faced by the team, including the low level of public awareness about sexual harassment in Hong Kong, a lack of technical expertise, and difficulties with getting the chatbot deployed on the university's website. Despite these obstacles, we remain committed to our project and have a vision for expanding it globally. We hope to provide translations that fit local contexts and eventually deploy the Me2 Chatbot globally, empowering young people to take action and effect positive change in their communities. The content of our letter to UNFPA is as follows.
