Two chloroplasts are present in cells. 形態 細胞長梭形，兩端尖。相鄰細胞通過殼面末端相疊形成可以滑動的細胞鏈，相連部 分為細胞長度的1/4到 1/3。色素體兩個。 Ecology and distribution Pseudo-nitzschia pungens is a cosmopolitan neritic species with a broad temperature range and one of dominant species in Hong Kong coastal waters. This species is a bloom forming species and have caused 6 blooms in Hong Kong coastal waters since 1986. Some Pseudo-nitzschia pungens strains are capable to produce domoid acid that causes amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP). 生態與分佈 尖刺擬菱形藻是廣溫性近岸物種，全世界廣泛分佈，也是香港海域優勢物種之一。 本物種是紅潮原因種，自1986年以來在香港海域形成6次紅潮。尖刺擬菱形藻部分 培養株系可以分泌軟骨藻酸，造成失憶性貝毒。
