School of Engineering Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 158 Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Carbon Fiber Supervisor: DUAN Molong / MAE Student: XU Ziyi / ISD Course: UROP 2100, Fall UROP 3100, Spring This report constructs an in-situ impregnation 3D printer for continuous fiber-reinforced composite and integrates the recycling systems of the continuous fiber. An extruder with a customized screw is constructed to convey the cured debris to the heating nozzle with different calibers. The basic parameters of the printer is adjusted to achieve a high accuracy in printing and high-volume ratio in fiber-to-matrix in composite, including temperature, printing speed, feeding ratio, nozzle size and layer height. Experiments including printing of complex shell structure with basalt fiber and polylactide, recycling and reprinting with recycled fiber have been processed. Video Demonstration:
