School of Humanities and Social Science Division of Social Science 204 View Imagery Data to Study City and Society Supervisor: ZHANG Han / SOSC Student: WANG Jiadi / COMP Course: UROP 2100, Fall In today's rapidly urbanizing world, it is vital to comprehend the relationship between cities and society. While survey data has traditionally been employed in social science research, online platforms such as Google and Baidu offer new possibilities to explore urban areas and their social dynamics via street view imagery data. This research endeavor aims to harness street view imagery data to investigate and quantify social phenomena associated with urbanization, such as gentrification, urban expansion, and surveillance. We aspire to attain fresh perspectives on these phenomena and their social ramifications by utilizing machine learning and statistical analysis techniques.
