31 STUDENT HUB We are happy to share that our PhD student, Miss Chunyan RAN, has won the Outstanding Paper Award at the 9th Young Scholars Forum of Journal of Public Administration (《公共行政评论》). Her award- winning paper, titled “Exploring Varieties of Bureaucratic Formalism under the Pressure of Political Re-centralization: A Comparative Analysis in China”, based on her dissertation work, showcases her exceptional research. The Master of Public Policy (MPP) Program proudly launched a paid summer internship program in collaboration with the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and several esteemed organizations, including HSBC, IEMS, FemTech Future, Equal Justice, the Business Environment Council, the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance (CIDEG), Civic Exchange, The Nature Conservancy, and Votee AI. This exciting initiative aimed to elevate the student experience by providing invaluable insights into the dynamics of diverse workplaces. Interns had the incredible opportunity to work at the SCMP’s Causeway Bay office for 2-3 days per week over an engaging 8-week period. Eligible candidates, currently enrolled in the MPP Program, were selected based on their academic achievements and relevant experience. This internship program not only equipped students with essential skills but also fostered vital connections between academia and industry. The application process drew significant interest, with students invited to submit their CVs and cover letters. This collaboration marked a significant step in enriching our students’ education and preparing them for future success.
