Print Media Guide 2025 First published in 2020, the MTPC Print Media Guide has been a valuable resource for Printshop users. The updated 2025 edition is now available, offering the latest printing methods, materials, and samples. New content includes foam board recycling, dissertation printing and binding work ows, special effect printing, maker services, souvenirs, and packaging, along with many updated print samples. Users are encouraged to visit the MTPC Printshop to borrow the guide for their printing needs. SA Tech for Campus Events The MTPC Shaw Auditorium (SA) Technical Team is committed to delivering professional support for performances and events in the SA Hall. In addition, the team now extends its audiovisual support, stage management, and event coordination services to university events and activities held across campus, including the Atrium and the 7/F foyer. Simply contact the MTPC SA Tech Team to discuss your event plans, and they will help ensure a seamless and high-quality experience for your campus activities. Paging System MTPC recently upgraded the paging system at the Shaw Auditorium (SA). The new system integrates backstage control across SA, allowing targeted announcements, voice playback, background music, and live video in speci c areas with clear sound. Its user-friendly touchscreen makes operation easy. The system is reliable, with advanced reporting for monitoring and troubleshooting, and is exible for future upgrades to broadcast news and text announcements to display devices. LED display at the 7/F foyer Digital noticeboard Today's Event display Transparent LED display on Campus Digital Display With the support of the CMO and in consultation with ITSO, GECO, and OP, MTPC has helped establish several digital displays on campus to digitize, standardize, and streamline the posting and display of promotional messages. Additionally, MTPC has implemented a simple content submission work ow to facilitate the posting of promotional materials across various displays. Technical support and design adaptation services are also provided to enhance display performance and visual quality. More digital displays are planned and proposed, including an L-shaped LED display that supports 3D animations and showcases students' creative works. These displays will become an integral part of the campus publicity platform and signage system. Users are encouraged to make full use of these dynamic displays for their promotional campaigns, including the upcoming 35th Anniversary of the University.
A New Look at MTPC Lobby The MTPC lobby was recently updated. It aims to offer a warm and inviting space for everyone. With simple, modern furniture, soft lighting, and a few digital displays, the area strives to balance professionalism with comfort. The open layout provides plenty of seating, and the new signage might even work well for group photos. Whether you're here for a meeting or just stopping by, we hope the refreshed lobby makes your visit a little more pleasant. MTPC-G23536 填詞L The event successfully showcased the local lm The Lyricist Wannabe (填詞L), which resonated with university students. The lm, inspired by director Norris Wong’s personal journey, highlights resilience and creativity in pursuing dreams, offering valuable lessons on overcoming setbacks. A post-talk with Norris Wong Yee-Lam (黃綺琳) followed the screening. She shared insights into her creative process and the challenges of lmmaking, inspiring the audience with her re ections on perseverance and artistic passion. In October 2024, MTPC presented renowned sand artist Hoi Chiu in a mesmerizing performance titled “沙落/樂人生” at the Shaw Auditorium. He enthralled the audience with breathtaking sand paintings while sharing insights into his life and artistic inspirations. The event also featured his award-winning sand animation lm, complemented by a soundtrack composed by HKUST graduate Ng Siu Fung. Following the performance, a sand art workshop led by artist 鄭穎 allowed participants to learn intricate techniques for creating dynamic imagery using the uidity of sand and light. The Creative Media Zone (CMZ) at MTPC hosted a copper etching workshop, providing participants with a unique chance to explore the intricate, centuries-old art form. Guided by expert printmakers, attendees were carefully led through each stage—from preparing copper plates to applying acid etch and pulling their own prints. This hands-on experience not only enabled them to create personalized etchings but also deepened their appreciation for the precision and craftsmanship behind this timeless practice. Copper Etching Workshop Initiated by MTPC in partnership with SAU, Campus Cinema brings the HKUST community together for an immersive cinematic experience at the Shaw Auditorium. This year’s lm selection, chosen through an online voting process, features a diverse and exciting lineup, including Oppenheimer (奧本海默), Interstellar (星際啟示錄), Dune (沙丘瀚戰), Suzume no Tojimari (鈴芽之旅), Coco (玩轉極樂園), and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (發夢王大 歷險). Campus Cinema consistently attracts large crowds of students and staff to each screening, serving as a cherished platform for the university community to connect, unwind, and share memorable moments through the power of lm. 沙落/樂人生 A Sand Painting Performance and Workshop
StudyEasy StudyEasy is an online tool developed by MTPC as an integral part of the Center’s efforts to promote teaching and learning resources on campus. It provides a one-stop portal to inform students about the locations of multi-function printers, Virtual Barn Workshops, and study spaces. This tool helps students locate the nearest study-related facilities ef ciently. Additionally, the portal will be constantly updated to include the latest printing devices, workstations, and study spaces available to students. Star Faculty Video A series of videos highlighting the research and achievements of HKUST faculty was produced by the creative and media production teams of MTPC. These videos are featured under the “Star Faculty” section on the Of ce of the Provost website. Additionally, another set of videos promoting teaching and learning was produced by the team and has been showcased across various HKUST channels, including digital displays on campus and social media. More videos will be produced to publicize the teaching, learning, research, and achievements of HKUST faculty.
