The synergy among laboratories drives the multi-disciplinary exploration of complex biological questions while also cultivating a dynamic environment where students engage directly with the challenges of modern research. Facilities The Division is excellently equipped for research in a broad range of areas. The Laboratory Animal Facility provides a centralized and modern facility for animal studies. Additional state-of-theart facilities for biochemical and cellular studies are provided by the Biosciences Central Research Facility. The Department places strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary research and education in Ocean Science and Technology. Key study sites include the estuarine ecosystem of the Pearl River, the coastal bays surrounding Hong Kong, and various deep-sea environments including those of the South China Sea. Complementing these resources are central University universities, research institutions and companies across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, Europe and the US. facilities such as the Materials Characterization and Preparation Facility, the Nanoelectronics Fabrication Facility and the Environmental Central Facility - all offering a comprehensive array of advanced analytical tools.
