UROP Proceeding 2024-25

Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies Division of Integrative Systems and Design 254 Unmanned Surface Vehicle for Underwater Trash Cleaning Supervisor: Rob SCHARFF / ISD Student: IU Ying Nuen / ELEC Course: UROP 1100, Fall UROP 2100, Spring This project continues under the Sustainable Smart Marine Grid (SSMG) project, focusing on the development of a solar-powered unmanned surface vehicle (USV) for underwater trash collection. In the first term, we developed a communication system enabling global control through a 5G router and ZeroTier, and began designing a control circuit for the onboard cable spool. In the second term, we completed the motor control circuit and began developing a telemetry system to support mission control and remote monitoring of the USV. The long-term goal remains to enable a full internet-based control system covering both the USV and the attached unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV).
