Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies Division of Integrative Systems and Design 259 Underwater Robot for Biodiversity Study Supervisor: YEUNG Sai Kit / ISD Student: YIP Chi Ho / COMP Course: UROP 1100, Fall This project is the continuation of UROP1000. The main focus is to improve the underwater simulation environment for robot research. The main goal is to enhance the underwater imagery by using a plugin to introduce visual effects such as light absorption, scattering, color shift, reduced visibility, and limited light penetration. Additionally, a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) sensor modified from Project Dave is integrated into the simulator as a step forward improving the accuracy of underwater SLAM for future use. These advancements make the simulator versatile for underwater robotics related applications, enabling programmers to develop and test robot programs and computer vision tasks without being constrained by the physical venues.
