School of Science Department of Ocean Science 60 Marine Animal Bioinformatics Supervisor: WU Longjun / OCES Student: NG Hoi Kei / BISC Course: UROP 1100, Spring Asteropyginae is a diverse group of Devonian trilobites renowned for their distinctive morphologies. Despite the broad interest in their morphologies and phylogenetic placement, the functional evolution of this group is relatively unexplored. This progress report provides an overview of the ongoing research focused on their morphological and functional evolution. Currently, the compilation of the morphological and ecological datasets is in progress. The preliminary datasets will be presented as samples for visualization and discussion. This report also outlines the future research needed, which includes expanding the data matrices, constructing morphospace and ecospace, calculating disparity metrics, and examining potential correlations between the morphological and functional evolution.
