Last Dance Movie Screening Information Day 2025Red Bird AI Creativity Zone The 2025 Info Day activities at MTPC, branded as the "Red Bird AI Creativity Zone," were held in the Atrium and drew a signi cant turnout. Participants engaged with interactive kiosks, where they could input prompts describing their desired characters and use generative AI tools to create unique 3D mascots based on those descriptions. Select creations were showcased in a captivating 3D video on the L-Shaped LED screen. Attendees also received souvenirs featuring their personalized Red Bird designs and had the opportunity to take photos with their AI-generated characters in front of the LED screen and billboard, creating shareable content perfect for social media. Innovative Teaching & Learning MTPC recently partnered with a project team from the MGMT 2130 course (Prof. Mark Young) to support the HKUST Sustainable Smart Campus initiative, “Sea, Sense, and Melody.” This interactive art project transforms students’ emotions into beautiful AI-generated owers, displayed in real time on the L-shape LED wall. The installation demonstrates an inspiring fusion of technology, creativity, and learning, showcasing how our campus displays can serve as dynamic teaching and learning platforms for creative pedagogy. The Last Dance, a lm exploring Hong Kong's funeral traditions and the Taoist "Breaking the Hell's Gate" ceremony, triumphed at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards with wins for Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Film Score, and Best Original Film Song. It also became the highest-grossing domestic lm in Hong Kong history. Extended Digital Backdrop (iFlip) for HKUST events New HKUST Websites by MTPC We’re excited to share the design and development of several key HKUST websites that have been successfully completed. These include the refreshed sites for the President’s Of ce, BBA in Eurasian Business, and Campus Development of ce, which are now live. MTPC also developed the website for the Asian Biophysics Association (ABA) Symposium to support the event. Each site features a modern design, enhanced navigation, and an improved user experience—re ecting MTPC’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality web design and development support to the HKUST community. MTPC-G23715 Digital Notice Board at Hall I Bridge Link Eight stunning 4K vertical digital displays—arranged in two rows of four—have been newly installed at the Hall I Bridge Link. These eye-catching screens create an immersive visual experience for students as they head to classes or return to their halls. The displays offer a dynamic platform for promoting student societies and hall activities, providing an engaging new way to showcase events and connect with the campus community. Since the introduction of the digital backdrop, the service has been widely adopted across diverse HKUST events and activities. It offers signi cant savings in both cost and setup time while supporting dynamic content and real-time updates — eliminating the need for disposable materials. To further enhance exibility, two additional panels will be added to extend the backdrop from 5 m to 7 m in width, allowing for more versatile layout con gurations. The series features videos of Prof. Kam Tuen LAW, Prof. Hao CHEN, Prof. Dong LOU, Prof. Jin WANG, and Prof. Fei CHEN, now available under the “Star Faculty” section on the Of ce of the Provost website. More videos highlighting faculty excellence in research, teaching, and learning are in production—stay tuned for their upcoming release.

AFTEC x Creativity Thinking Lab Workshop Remember the joy of folding paper planes as a child? Our AFTEC x Creativity Thinking Lab workshop with paper-sculpture artist group STICKYLINE share the delight with UST community during lunchtime hour. Participants enthusiastically explored the intersection of art, geometry and kinetics, turning at sheets into stunning polyhedral sculptures and playful bridge installations. The room buzzed with curiosity and laughter as teams solved structural puzzles and excited by how creative thinking “See”, “Feel”, “Think”, “Wonder”can transform simple materials into imaginative works of art. The survey was distributed to over 400 instructors, and 78 responses were received when it closed on 23 January. The following indicates the results of the survey: MTPC will continue enhancing the RVC services based on feedback received from survey participants. For instance, we are currently exploring AI to help assess the quality of RVC videos before they are sent to faculty. This will help eliminate human error and signi cantly reduce turnaround time.
