Some say counselors/psychologists (also known as shrinks),
have a kind of mysterious power to see through your souls. I can
tell you that this is more a myth than the truth. In fact, through
the eyes of students, I see reflections of my own. Every human
being shares commonly pain from losses, despair, confusions.
Many times, through unfolding their despair, hope evolved from
themselves which gave me inspirations and touched my own
soul. There were many moments that I had tears in my eyes, that
I tried very hard to withhold. There are moments that my heart
ached with the student when he/she shared their inner feelings.
Psychologists/counselors are also human. And yes, we are all
only human. We think, and we also feel as well.
Apart from students who came to share their difficult moments in
life, I also have the honor to meet the Peer Counselors who want
to care for others at people’s difficult times. Through organizing
many caring projects, e.g., trip to Lamma Island, USTogther,
Inter-Hall Night, Peer Counselors showed their caring hearts,
vibrant energy, and talented strengths.
