School of Engineering Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 163 Smart Cushion Supervisor: YU Hongyu / MAE Student: WUN Ga Yun Esther / MAE Course: UROP1100, Fall UROP2100, Spring The smart cushion system is a system integrating the sensors into a cushion to monitor the sitting habits of people. Two different designs of the substrate were suggested, one adopting a folding-stretching method for a flexible printed circuit board substrate, one using a Miura-Ori substrate design with sensors underneath. Both designs aim to minimize the number of sensors, the material usages and the production costs, while maximizing the coverage area. This paper would focus on the stretching machine for the folding-stretching method, as a continuation of the previous report, as well as the simulation results of the Miura-Ori substrate design.
