Professor Stuart Croft has served as Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Warwick since 2016, following his tenure as the University’s Provost. A social scientist, he led the Economic and Social Research Council’s New Security Challenges programme of over forty research projects, and has in addition had his research funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the EU, Leverhulme and NATO. He is a past chair of the British International Studies Association. Under his leadership, Warwick has undergone significant growth, with both overall income and research income doubling, while a third of all Warwick graduates in the University’s history have completed their studies during his tenure. Holding a gold across all measures in the Teaching Excellence Framework, Warwick also has the highest rankings for business partnerships and public engagement in the Knowledge Exchange Framework, and has been Social Mobility University of the Year, and also institution of the year for international students. A leading member of the Russell Group, Warwick remains among the highest-performing UK universities, rising to the top five in the Daily Mail rankings and moving up in both the QS and Times World rankings. Professor Croft is leading Warwick towards its ambition of becoming one of the world’s top 50 universities by 2030, with a focus on world-leading education, research and innovation, and on delivering positive impact locally, nationally and globally.
