Guidelines for Speakers The 2026 WCUPF is a two-day event featuring a keynote speech on the forces reshaping higher education. The Forum opens with a panel that sets the horizon for all that follows and closes with a panel that turns dialogue into direction. In between, the program is organized around three major themes: “The University in the AI Era”, “The University and Society”, and “The University and Civilization”. Each theme unfolds through two complementary sessions: a Panel Dialogue and a Roundtable. The Forum’s discussions take two forms. Main-stage sessions—the Opening Panel, the three Panel Dialogues, and the Closing Panel—are moderated conversations held before the full assembly. Roundtables are arranged as “islands” of discussion tables, where participants hold candid small-group discussion before each table shares its insights with the room. Together the two formats balance main-stage exchange with in-depth discussion, ensuring every participant has an active speaking role. 1 | GENERAL RULES OF THE WCUPF 2026 These apply to every session. They are not repeated in the session-specific guidelines that follow. 1. All sessions are interactive and conducted in English. 2. All sessions are held under the Chatham House Rule. The content of speakers’ statements may be quoted, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of any speaker may be revealed — including on social media — without their prior consent. 3. Photographs taken during the sessions by our official photographers may be used in the WCUPF forum pamphlet, on the website, or in other official WCUPF publications. 4. The HKUST generative AI tool will produce summaries of each session, available exclusively on-site and subject to the Chatham House Rule. Accordingly, the sessions will be audio- and video-recorded so that the recordings can be processed by the generative AI. Please rest assured that this audio and video data will not be broadcast or published anywhere. 72
