Because of its close proximity to Hong Kong,
Shenzhen attracts many alumni to join the events
staged by the
Shenzhen Chapter
. Professor Tony
Chan and Dr Eden Woon were excited to meet
with over 100 alumni and students at the drinks
reception in May. The charitable “Walk for Love” in
June not only highlighted the persistence of alumni,
but also raised over RMB400,000 for the One
Foundation! The Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour
and the reading sharing and marathon, initiated by
the group “Books & Miles”, received
overwhelming support from alumni in
Shenzhen.

Variety
A broad spectrum of programs has been organized by the
Shanghai Chapter
from time to time, drawing alumni closer to each other. Apart from
the large-scale distinguished alumni lectures, the regular monthly
yum cha gatherings, sports day and community services enable
alumni to renew ties and meet new friends.

Alumni in Beijing were delighted to meet HKUST
Alumni Association delegates from Hong Kong at
a buffet dinner organized by the
Beijing Chapter
in September. They appreciated this wonderful
occasion to update each other on their latest
happenings. In November, alumni paid a visit to an
orphanage in Hebei, where they spent a pleasant
weekend with the lovely kids.

The exciting soccer match
between Guangzhou
Evergrande and Guangzhou
Fuli in May attracted fans
of both teams to join the
first gathering staged by the
Guangzhou Chapter
. It
was followed by a baking-themed cocktail party two weeks later where
alumni learnt the secret of baking from a chef from a five-star hotel. In August,
alumni were invited by EMBA alumna Nancy Tsui, Chairperson of DL&C, to a
charity cocktail party and celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival together. Everyone
enjoyed the opportunity to catch up.
