Christine fell in love with globetrotting after she took the first flight of her life, 4,818 miles from Hong Kong to Mauritius. To her, travel means
the freedom to explore and the opportunity to enjoy new experiences from around the globe – parts of her university education that she
most treasures.
Can you tell us everything you’ve done during your first two years at university?
My university life has been very, very busy so far. I’ve enjoyed exploring exotic cultures in developing countries. In summary, I did environmental
projects in Nepal, South Africa and Mauritius, a low-carbon research-related internship in Taiwan, academic exchange in the UK, and I went
to a UNEP International Student Conference in Shanghai where I went on environmental site visits around the Yangtze River Delta.
During my exchange, I travelled to Portugal, Spain, Malta, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Morocco and Turkey. After
that I went straight to Africa as an environmental journalist, so I was ‘on the road’ as a backpacker for over six months.
You see, once I stepped out of my comfort zone, being an explorer just became irresistible and addictive.
