Despite the rapid growth of the UAV industry, especially in the quadcopter-type drone section, the loud level of noise
generated by the propellers, as well as safety hazards presented by the open propellers, hinder them from expanding
their applications. This UROP project aims to investigate the use of a novel duct, that can be mounted over the
propellers of drones in order to reduce the overall level of noise generated by these drones, as well as to increase safety.
In this UROP, aerodynamic ducts with, and without sawtooth serrations have been designed, fabricated, and tested in an
anechoic chamber. Further analysis of the experimental data shall determine the next step of the project.
