We mainly use a large amount of retail data to determine the competitive relationship among companies by matching their products and giving a score based on the product matrix. In order to access the appropriate data, we have done some basic data cleaning jobs, using Python to match firm names from different databases and do manually matching. We also use inner functions in Excel to sort the company information into categories. The above methods can be utilized for broader company scope and longer time horizon.
