Program Book for the World Class University Presidents Forum

The University and the Century Ahead As this gathering of leaders begins, we open not with answers but with the largest question of all: what kind of university will the world need a century from now? The pressures are already clear—intelligent machines, changing expectations of universities’ role in society, and a world that is simultaneously more connected and complex. Universities have weathered upheavals before. They have endured because they remain anchored to a clear purpose while continually renewing how they fulfill it. This opening dialogue sets the scene for the Forum, inviting speakers to look beyond immediate challenges and consider the university’s enduring mission. What must universities preserve, and what must they reinvent to ensure they remain a force for knowledge, wisdom and the betterment of society in the century ahead? Nancy IP, President, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Mosa MOSHABELA, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University of Cape Town 開普敦大學校長 Mosa MOSHABELA Deborah PRENTICE, Vice-Chancellor, University of Cambridge 劍橋大學校長 Deborah PRENTICE Mark SCOTT, Vice-Chancellor and President, The University of Sydney
