In Memoriam
Everyone at the University was deeply saddened by the sudden death of Ng Cheuk Yue and Lui Yau Man in January 2015. Cheuk Yue was a BEng(CIVL) alumnus
from Class of 2012. He collapsed during the Standard Chartered Marathon. Yau Man was a BEng(CPEG) alumnus from Class of 2006. We offer our sincerest
condolences to their families and friends. They will be sorely missed by their professors and classmates.

I am honored to receive The Hong Kong Youth Service
Award 2014, organized by The Hong Kong Federation of
Youth Groups. On April 16, 2015, I returned to HKUST to
share my experience at the HKUST Service Learning Day
Ceremony. It has been my delight to devote my time and
effort to various community initiatives both in and outside
Hong Kong in the past couple of years and help those less
privileged in the communities.

On March 18, 2015, I initiated and spoke at a seminar co-organized
by the HKUST Career Center, Department of Industrial Engineering
and Logistics Management, and the Hong Kong Young Industrialists
Council (HKYIC), in my capacity as Regional Director of Mainetti
Group (far right in photo). About 180 students attended the seminar,
with many of them staying behind afterwards to learn more about
HKYIC’s summer internship opportunities.

Having been in the accounting
field for seven years, I decided to
pursue my dream and started my
own vegetarian restaurant in 2014. A
veteran vegetarian myself, I hope to
promote meatless eating
through my cuisine.

Yingke is the largest law firm in China
(2014 ALB No.1) with 25 offices. I
joined its Shenzhen office as Partner
Attorney in 2014. As one of the very
few PRC-qualified lawyers from Hong
Kong, I mainly focus on Hong Kong and
foreign-related civil and commercial
legal matters.

I am General Manager and Vice Chairman of Cometal (Foshan) Extrusion
Technology (6th from right in photo). Four years ago, we took over the
company following the bankruptcy of its mother company. We were proud
to see Cometal listed on the NEEQ (National Equities Exchange and
Quotations) of Beijing on March 6, 2015.

I have long dreamed of taking part in the Hong Kong Standard
Chartered Marathon with my boys. This year, my elder son Jonathan
and I completed the full 42.2km marathon while my younger son
Joshua completed his first 10km. We hope we can continue this
momentum next year!
