HKUST Alumni News 2014
Global Horizons
Moving to a
Latin Beat!
For the first time HKUST alumni events have been held in
Latin America
. Alumni networking drinks were organized in
São Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile, in early April. President Professor Tony Chan and Vice-President for Institutional
Advancement Dr Eden
Woon were both thrilled
to meet alumni and once
exchange-in students
there. A big thank you to
anchors Katia Stampfli
and Paulette Berg for
making the
events
happen.
Tasty
Reunion
Alumni in Singapore had a great time at the Japanese dinner
gathering, organized by the
Singapore Chapter
in April.
They all appreciated this opportunity to
expand their networks and obtain support
from one another. Special thanks to alumnus
Darryl Chow for facilitating this reunion at his
restaurant.
Windy City
Meet-ups
In March, two cozy alumni gatherings
were held in
Chicago
. Most of the participants are
undertaking postgraduate studies at renowned institutes
such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and
Northwestern University. These debut reunions were
coordinated by Shine Zhai and Mavis Jiang.
Brave
New World
Atlanta, GA is one of the most vibrant cities in the US, and it is
base to a growing number of alumni, in particular those furthering
their studies there. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of anchor Shine
Zhai, the
Atlanta Chapter
has been established, with its inaugural
meeting being held in mid-April. Apart from alumni, a
good number of exchange-out students also joined
this landmark gathering. Visit the chapter’s Facebook
to keep abreast of forthcoming events!
