Event Roundup

The MBA alumni community kicked off the year strongly – quite
literally – with a team of alumni bringing home the trophy at the
Fifth Annual Credit Suisse Asian MBA Football Tournament.
From the
MBA Alumni Association
dragon boat team to
the cornerstone “Biztral 730” enrichment events, MBAAA has
been working hard to offer opportunities to develop and bring
together alumni across HKUST. In 2014, MBAAA continues
to focus on building up its members through public-speaking
workshops and entrepreneurship forums, as well as expanding
the footprint of HKUST by offering networking opportunities
across the broader Hong Kong business community.
Family Program
Launch
In May 2014, the
Civil and Environmental Engineering
Alumni Association
launched the “Civil Family Program”
to its final-year students and fresh graduates. The five-year
program aims to provide guidance from job application to
becoming a Chartered Engineer. It is supported by alumni
representatives from over 10 companies.
CEEAA has recently been actively involved with both UG and PG students
through sharing market information and job openings via the Job Searching
Seminar, High Table Dinner and dinner gatherings with CIEM and EVEM
postgraduate students.
Mentorship
Take Off
The
Computer Science and Engineering Alumni Association
kicked off its first-ever, year-
long mentorship program this March, targeting computer science and engineering students and
recent graduates. This program aims to achieve a win-
win situation for both mentees and mentors, who are
mostly alumni of computer science or related programs.
During the inaugural meeting, excellent creativity and
team spirit were highlighted through
role-play. Why not join the committee
and contribute to this big happy family -

Championship
Success
Members of the
HKUST MBA Alumni Toastmasters Club
continue to reach new heights:
after representing the Club at both the International Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest,
BBA Marketing & Management alumna Yuki Wong won two more area-level championships.
She will soon represent the Club in different contests.
In other activities, seasoned toastmasters were invited
to talk about a variety of practical subjects, while the Club
also collaborated with MBAAA in May to organize workshops
hosted by veteran toastmasters. Don’t forget to join the
demonstration meeting in August!
Looking
Forward
The AGM of the
Biochemistry Alumni
Association
was held in March. During
the coming year, BCAA will launch a
number of new programs
for its members. Visit the
Facebook page for updates.
Wonderful
Wuhan
This year the
Civil and Environmental
Engineering Postgraduates and
Scholars Association
held its fifth

two local institutions, namely Huazhong
University of Science and Technology
and Changjiang River Research Institute.
As well as the AGM, two seminars, a
city tour and dinner were organized,
attracting over 50 alumni from Hong
Kong, Switzerland, Shenzhen, Beijing,
Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing. CEE
PGSA is planning to hold the next AGM
