Giving Back
The Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) has reached a new record
of HK$18 million for the academic year 2014/2015, with more than
1,800 alumni donating since the fund’s establishment in 2012.
And what is evenmore valuable is the fact that over HK$600,000
in interest is available to be allocated to students for 2014/2015.
The keen support of alumni really makes a difference to so
many students’ lives.
DONATION REPORT 2014/2015
Over 1,000 students from different Schools and programs
benefitted from AEF in the past academic year. Among the
donors is Jiang Wenyan, EMBA Class of 2010, who donated
HK$1 million in 2014 to establish the YUNEEC Outstanding
Engineering Student Award. This is an annual award for
engineering students with good academic achievements who
have actively participated in regional or international engineering-
related competitions. As a token of the University’s appreciation
of her gift, a room at the Lee Shau Kee Library has been named
YUNEEC Multi-Function Room after her company.
HIGH FLIERS RECOGNIZED
The first two awardees are Jeff Chen and Ted Cheung. Jeff
joined the MIT Team as a visiting student and competed in the
2014 AIAA Foundation/Cessna/Raytheon Student Design/Build/
Fly Competition, which was placed fifth. Ted was the team captain
of the HKUST ROV Team in the 9th Hong Kong/Asia Regional IET/
MATE Underwater Robot Challenge and won the championship in
