HKUST Alumni News 2015
Growth
Area
Europe is becoming a hub of
a growing number of alumni. In
May, President Prof Tony Chan,
Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Dr
Eden Woon and several faculty members visited
the region and met with alumni and former
exchange-in students in
Warsaw
and
Prague
.
Despite the diverse backgrounds of the alumni,
what they shared was the wonderful time and fruitful learning opportunities they enjoyed at HKUST. Prof Chan
and Dr Woon gave a detailed account of the University’s latest developments and heads-up on the upcoming
25th anniversary celebrations.
Global Horizons
Lunar New Year
Festivities
A series of HKUST-related Chinese New Year
celebrations took place in the US in February. Thanks
go to alumni and exchange-out students, in particular
the heads of overseas chapters and anchors in
different locations, who made possible these warm
reunions in the festive season!
The San Jose event was graced with the
presence of Prof Chan and attended by many
IT professionals and entrepreneurs. It also brought together a group of enthusiastic alumni who have
established the
Northern California Chapter
.
The
Atlanta Chapter
festivities saw a good mix of both alumni and exchange-out students, with the
majority now studying at Georgia Institute of Technology.
The
Boston Chapter
has been maintaining close ties among alumni through its dim sum lunches since
its establishment last October.
Alumni in
Washington, DC
contributed to the growing alumni force in the US by taking
part in the first-ever gathering there. It marked a perfect start!
East Coast
Fun
More and more alumni are now furthering their postgraduate studies on the East Coast of the
US. A group of them got together for a joyful spring dinner in
North Carolina
in early May and
are ready to welcome newcomers to the state!
London
Diversity
Alumni in
London
had a great time in late March
as they came together to reminisce about the
good old days while making
new friends. Participants
came from a wide spectrum
of industries.
